What is our orientation?

Mission

We develop research, consultancy and analysis on the roots and effects of violence, in order to generate proposals for treatment and prevention. Our Center is based on the construction of knowledge, guided by the confluence of different forms of knowledge and know-how, from which we create different types of dialogues, alliances and spaces for participation, from methodologies and tools that allow us to highlight the types of violence that are immersed in the social, economic, political and cultural spheres.

The above, from the recognition of the context and the actors present in each situation under study. In the described, our purpose is to contribute to the transformation of the conflict and situations of violence.

Vision

Our Center aims to influence the processes of analysis and management of violence in different contexts, through the production of knowledge, analytical and practical concepts in areas of consulting and academic research.

For the Center, it is essential to recognize the different actors involved in this violence, so that the interests and roots of violence can be deeply analyzed from a perspective of respect for human rights and the application of international humanitarian law. We believe that peace is not the absence of conflict, but the transformation of responses and violent dynamics that are generated in the face of difference, scarcity, discrimination, among other scenarios, which is why our goal is to build effective tools that propose new forms of management and prevention of violence.

Who are we?

The creation of the International Center for the Treatment of Violence is a multidisciplinary venture that allows the convergence of different visions on armed conflicts and violence in the world.

Our team is made up of internationalists, political scientists and lawyers with different approaches, which has allowed the discussion and questioning of the uses, foundations and contexts of violence, by contrasting ideas, ideological positions and solutions. We are a Center that focuses on the construction of critical and impartial analysis, guided by our desire to contribute to the prevention and overcoming of violence, in order to promote new scenarios of peace building and conflict transformation, ensuring respect for human rights, environmental and international law, without any distinction or discrimination.
